Be Healthy, Be Happy Programme

Do you want to move more and feel healthier? Do you want to meet others and look at topics such as sleep, exercise, healthy eating, social and emotional wellbeing? If so, join in with this rolling programme.

Coleford: On Tuesdays 2:30pm-3:30pm running for 6 weeks at a time. The Mendip Room, Mendip Country Practice, Church Street, Coleford, Radstock, BA3 5NQ. Please contact the Health Connections team to register for the next available programme.

Frome: On Tuesdays 10.30am – 11:30am, Frome Medical Practice, Enos Way, BA11 2FH. Please contact the Health Connections team to register for the next available programme.

Farming Community Network

Offers pastoral support and practical help to anyone in the farming community (currently or retired) when they are facing challenges and tough times. All volunteers have a farming background and are trained to listen confidentially and without judgement, for as long as it takes to resolve difficult issues

Heads Up

Heads Up work with individuals affected by mental health issues and other difficulties, in order to help them towards recovery, greater well-being and quality of life. They offer a variety of courses, classes and therapies.

Heads Up also run Heads Up Connect, meeting every two weeks. This is a friendly social group with regular speakers suggested by the members.

Health Connectors – Mendip area

Health Connectors are based in all the GP practices in the Mendip area. We can help you in a number of ways. We can work with you on a one-to-one basis – we listen to what is important to you and work with you on issues that you would like support with. We can link you up with services and organisations, help you manage long term conditions, help you meet new people, join groups or set goals that might improve your health and wellbeing. We can also help you set up new groups if it is needed in your area. We see people in GP practices or in your home if you are housebound. As well as linking you to groups and services, we also run groups such as Talking Cafes, Be Healthy Be Happy and Pain Management programmes.

Kooth Online Counselling for 11-18 year olds

Kooth.com is a free, safe, confidential and non-stigmatised way for young people to receive counselling, advice and support on-line. Kooth delivers thousands of counselling sessions each year to young people aged 11-18. Available until 10pm each night, 365 days per year.

Papyrus HOPELineUK

HOPELineUK is a 24 hour confidential support and advice service for young people under the age of 35 who may be having thoughts of suicide or anyone concerned a young person may be having thoughts of suicide.

Somerset and Wessex Eating Disorders Association (SWEDA)

Offering a wide range of services to those affected by eating disorders in Somerset and the surrounding counties. For more information and support for yourself or somebody you know who has been affected by an eating disorder, visit our website or phone us on the number below 9.00am – 5.00pm Tuesday – Thursday (answer phone available outside these times).

SWEDA offers support to students aged 16 and above in all Colleges and Sixth Forms across Somerset; one-to-one sessions can be booked through student support or directly with our Community Support Workers by emailing support@swedauk.org

SWEDA Mindline run a helpline open to anyone; sufferers, carers or anyone affected by an eating disorder. Service users can call 0300 330 5464 and expect to speak to a member of staff  for up to half an hour on each call. The helpline is manned every Tuesday evening 8pm-11pm and every Sunday from 11am-2pm, and even open throughout the Christmas Period.

SWEDA also runs a Self Help Group for those affected by Eating Disorders, you can find dates for the next scheduled group, and book a place, by visiting the contact us section at www.swedauk.org or by ringing 01749 343344.

Talking Therapies- Somerset area

Talking Therapies offer a wide range of treatments for adults 18 years of age and over who are registered with a GP surgery in the Somerset area. Talking Therapies is for people experiencing mild to moderate depression, general anxiety and worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, traumatic memories , obsessive compulsive disorder and adjustment to living with a long term physical health condition.

If you are 18 years or over and registered at a GP surgery in Somerset, there are a number of ways you can refer yourself to Talking Therapies, visit the website or call for more information.
