Digital Café – Frome

Join us at the Cheese & Grain in Frome for our Digital Café, where you can bring your devices, ask questions about ‘how to’ or just share stories about your digital experiences and more.

Frome Library Basic Computer Courses & Help with IT

Frome Library runs ‘Learn My Way’ basic computer courses, including modules on browsing the web, staying safe online, email, shopping, and social media. If you are stuck with something specific we will do our best to help. You can use our computers or bring your own laptop or tablet.

You need to be over 18 and a member of the library. Sessions are held on Mondays and Thursdays 9.30 – 12.00. Phone or come into the library to find out more or book a place.

Health Connectors – Mendip area

Health Connectors are based in all the GP practices in the Mendip area. We can help you in a number of ways. We can work with you on a one-to-one basis – we listen to what is important to you and work with you on issues that you would like support with. We can link you up with services and organisations, help you manage long term conditions, help you meet new people, join groups or set goals that might improve your health and wellbeing. We can also help you set up new groups if it is needed in your area. We see people in GP practices or in your home if you are housebound. As well as linking you to groups and services, we also run groups such as Talking Cafes, Be Healthy Be Happy and Pain Management programmes.

Learn My Way, Online Digital Courses

Learn My Way is a website of free online courses, built by Good Things Foundation to help people develop their digital skills.

The website contains over 30 free courses designed to help beginners get started with the online basics – using a mouse, keyboard, setting up email accounts and using internet search engines – while also offering plenty to help people develop their digital skills further. Health Connections Mendip are an online learning center, Please enter the code 80006569 when registering.

Somerset Libraries – borrow an iPad

Anyone who is a member of Somerset Libraries can borrow an iPad free of charge for a period of up to six weeks to help in searching for employment. Becoming a member of Somerset Libraries is free and easy to do. You can join online but in order to borrow an iPad you will need to become a full member which you can do by visiting your local library.

 

Spark iT – Championing digital inclusion in Somerset

Spark iT Helpdesk is a free telephone and online service open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, to support digitally excluded individuals to use IT equipment. Spark iT are also recruits Digital Champions Volunteers to offer IT support in the local community.

Tech Shed – Frome

Bringing together people with an interest in technology, to make useful things for the community of Frome.

A mix of online and in-person sessions held at The Remakery, The Welshmill Hub, Frome. Annual membership is £5, with a small charge for in-person sessions.
