Living and feeling better can start with a simple step-connecting. Health Connections Mendip is provided by your Mendip GP practices to improve your health and wellbeing.
This is a rolling six week programme each week we explore and educate on different subjects such as sleep, food, movement, and social & mental wellbeing. Tuesday morning drop in sessions are facilitated by a Health Connector, current dates are:
There are lots of things that can have an impact on being a healthy weight. As well as eating healthily, you might want to look at other things such as improving your sleep, relaxing more, moving more, counselling services and reducing alcohol intake. You may want to get support online, in person, by yourself or in a group. There are lots of ways to get started. 1. You can have a look at the NHS Better Health website which has a free 12 week course and also discounts on well known national healthy eating plans and groups. These include NHS weight loss plan, Slimming World, GetSlim, Noom, Weight Watchers, Second Nature and Healthier for Life. 2. You can join Health Connections Mendip’s Healthy Lifestyle programme. Each week focusses on a different topic for 15 minutes and then there is peer support and goal setting – you can join for one or all of the sessions. Just contact Health Connections Mendip or visit our website.
3. You can have a look at the Health Connections Mendip website and browse our Healthy Weight resources and our directory of services where you will find lots of community groups and services that might be of interest to you eg walking groups, stop smoking services, places to make new friends, support for your mental health and much more.
4. If you are at high risk of type 2 diabetes, you may be eligible for the free NHS Healthier You service, which will help you to eat more healthily, lose weight and get more physically active. Take this quick and easy test to find out if you are at risk of type 2 diabetes. Mendip Health Walks are devised to help you to feel good, to have more energy, to sleep better and to manage your weight. All walks are free of charge and are led by a team of Volunteer Walk Leaders.
